iSayHello » Blog http://isayhello.info/en/ Das Reisewörterbuch Tue, 04 Feb 2014 16:05:00 +0000 en-US hourly 1 http://wordpress.org/?v=3.8.1 September price reduction! http://isayhello.info/en/september-price-reduction/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=september-price-reduction http://isayhello.info/en/september-price-reduction/#comments Thu, 05 Sep 2013 10:33:47 +0000 http://isayhello.info/?p=3121 On vacation or at home, communication and language is a significant part of our daily life.  Only by language it´s possible to communicate with people around us, either when we ask where the next bus station is or when we want to start a serious conversation with someone.

We dominate our mother tongue perfectly, sometimes even one additional foreign language. But what happens if we want to communicate with people, whose language we neither understand nor speak? Imagine the following situation : You´re on vacation in Andalusia and want to ask a local where to find the next supermarket. First, you try it in English. No reaction. What now ?

This can also happen at home, for example at work with a business partner from China or with a patient, who only speaks English moderately.

It can often be useful to have an opportunity to talk to people without knowing their native language.  And what else helps us more effectively nowadays than an app on our smartphone?

This is where our iSayHello Communicator- Translator comes into play! The App has two parts: For one we have the mobile, offline working travel dictionary, that contains 11 lessons with the most important words and phrases. You can choose of 12 different languages and native speakers will recite the whatever you want to know – that´s how you will never be misunderstood again!

This feature is especially useful when you´re on vacation and asking the waiter for the bill, for example.

The second part of the app is the communicator, which comprises two little cute language monsters, that will translate simultaneously words and sentences – in over 50 languages! By manual input or speech recognition you can translate a sentence like “Sorry, where can I find a good restaurant” within seconds in Chinese.

The communicator is a great way to get into contact with anybody, no matter where he comes from or which language he speaks.

The App iSayHello Communicator – Translator is truly a practical and fun assistant and companion, on vacation or in your free time!

From today on, the 05/09/2013 the app is one month available for a reduced price on iTunes and Google Play Store for only 3,99$!

iSayHello – don’t go on your Summer Vacation without it: the Talking Travel Dictionary for the iPhone, the iPad and Android! http://isayhello.info/en/mit-isayhello-in-den-sommerurlaub-sprechendes-reiseworterbuch-fur-iphone-android/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=mit-isayhello-in-den-sommerurlaub-sprechendes-reiseworterbuch-fur-iphone-android http://isayhello.info/en/mit-isayhello-in-den-sommerurlaub-sprechendes-reiseworterbuch-fur-iphone-android/#comments Wed, 20 Jun 2012 19:27:58 +0000 http://isayhello.info/mit-isayhello-in-den-sommerurlaub-sprechendes-reiseworterbuch-fur-iphone-android-2/ It’s almost that time of year again: summer vacation. Distant and foreign lands are calling – unfortunately in a language that most of us are not familiar with. The travel app iSayHello, for iOS and Android, will break down the language barrier. It features a collection of the most important phrases that are being used when on vacation – presented in eleven lessons, translated into many desired languages. An integrated online translator rounds out the various iSayHello apps, covering more than 100 language combinations.

In a nutshell:
- Introducing a new app: iSayHello
- Universal apps for the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad
- Apps are also available for Android
- Talking travel dictionary with offline data
- 11 thematic lessons
- Voice output of whole sentences
- Individual sentences may be saved as favorites
- Integrated online translator
- More than 100 language combinations in as many apps
- Price: starting at $ 1.99 per app
- Link: http://isayhello.info/

We all know the situation: we get to our vacation spot and would really like to talk to the waiter in the restaurant, the staff at the hotel or the seller at the market. Unfortunately, when abroad this does not always work right away, since a foreign language is required and we, as a tourist, are not familiar with the appropriate vocabulary.

However, quick and competent help may be called up via the smartphone by simply installing the right iSayHello universal app on the iPhone, the iPod touch or the iPad. iSayHello may also be installed as an app on Android smartphones.

Each iSayHello app covers a certain language combination, e.g. “English – German” or “English – Italian”.

The App Stores feature more than 100 iSayHello apps, thereby covering the same amount of language combinations. Languages like English, French, Spanish, Portuguese (European and Brazilian), Polish, Italian, Russian, Japanese, German and Chinese are included. There is even a “Bavarian” version – very important for getting along at the Munich Oktoberfest.

Each app provides a catalog that contains 11 subject-linked lessons. Areas such as “Welcome”, “Shopping”, “Dining”, “Soccer” (appropriate for the upcoming European Championships), “Flirting” or “Emergency” are being covered. All lessons are accessible completely offline. This way they may easily be uses at vacation spots, without incurring expensive roaming charges.

“Where is the train station?” – “May I take you home?” – “That’s quite expensive!” – “Do you take credit cards?”

Naturally iSayHello is familiar with lots of phrases that are being used when on vacation. The lessons are being presented in a tabular format. To begin with, a phrase is shown in the native language of the user. The right hand side will then display the appropriate translation in the target language. A simple tap on the play button will see to it that the translated sentence is being spoken out loud – by a native speaker of the target language. Not only does the app help to find the right words – it also helps to pronounce them correctly. Another great feature: if it has to be really fast, the iPhone or Android smartphone is able to read the necessary sentence out loud – so the person that is being addressed is able to hear it directly.

In order to be able to find individual phrases quickly and easily, the app lets the user store them as a favorite – if so desired.

Christine Handschuh of ADMOVI GmbH: “In addition to the 11 lessons the app also offers an online translator that will assist in searching for single words or phrases that are not yet included in the lessons. However, this module does require an Internet connection.”

Offer to the Press:
If you would like to test or raffle off a specific iSayHello app, simply contact the press agency. We will make sure that you receive a promo code that lets you download the full version of the app from the iTunes App Store for free.

Father Christmas would also like a smartphone. http://isayhello.info/en/father-christmas-would-also-like-a-smartphone/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=father-christmas-would-also-like-a-smartphone http://isayhello.info/en/father-christmas-would-also-like-a-smartphone/#comments Thu, 22 Dec 2011 20:24:13 +0000 http://isayhello.info/?p=2879 Long gone are the days when Father Christmas would travel through the snow covered woods with the help of the stars, look up postal codes in the yellow pages, or use his eagle owl to help with the wish lists sent to him. It’s a lot easier, and lighter nowadays, provided you’ve got a smartphone.
However, here‘s where Father Christmas has to ask himself: an iPhone or an Android Smartphone? And which app serves which purpose? Choosing alone isn’t an easy task. Anyway, he can ask around in the fairytale forest or ask the wise owl or Mother Fulda, because she sees everything when the bed has been shaken. However, they both decline – he has to deal with this on his own. Indeed, it’s a question of faith and everyone has their own preference. At the end of the day what is important though, is which app(s) you’ve uploaded onto your phone, and there’s always a few more you can get on iTunes at the App Store. Most of them can also be found on Android Market. They’re not as elaborately packed, just as good nonetheless.
So what exactly does Father Christmas need?
To start off with, definitely a GPS with the right navigation app. He also needn’t worry anymore about having to find his way back through the snow covered wood as, thanks to the “Bring Me Back” app, he can get back home in no time. Beforehand, he will travel around using different city guides, checking out the highlights of the city and recover in a cosy bar which would lure him in by app with a special deal for Christmas punch. And, for the perfect send off for the presents, he’s already got the correct post code from the relevant app before they’ve even been wrapped.
Our Father Christmas must also be in tip-top shape. With countless fitness apps and altimeters available he can already start working out so he can carry that huge sack of his.

During his break – a break that Father Christmas is well entitled to – he’s also got a few game apps on his smartphone to keep him busy. And, just so he knows that his snack doesn’t contain too many calories, he can test it by using the relevant app. Mother Fulda has recommended a few weather apps and the owl has given him some travel tips. Spain, Italy, France, Poland, China, Japan, wherever. What truly matters for the journey is that it is equipped with the new travel dictionary from iSayHello. Here, Father Christmas can find all sorts of phrases that he’ll need for when he’s away. Not only at customs will he breeze through, but also at the restaurant and the hotel he’ll have everything in the palm of his hand. He doesn’t even need to pronounce the sentences – the app can do that. Thanks to the iSayHello app he doesn’t need to bother his eagle owl anymore. Anything that isn’t covered in the lessons can be done quickly with the translator and sent by email, whenever he wants.
However, one problem still remains. What happens if Father Christmas loses his brand new Smartphone with all the amazing new apps in the snow? Will there be any presents at all under the tree this year? Tearful adults waiting for their iPhone or Android Smartphone? No, even this sinister scenario can be spared from us all. All we have to do is locate it and we’ll bring it back to Father Christmas.
We can only just hope that it won’t end up stolen; otherwise it’ll all be over.

We wish you all a very h-APP-y Christmas!

Should I use “Du” or “Sie”? http://isayhello.info/en/should-i-use-du-or-sie/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=should-i-use-du-or-sie http://isayhello.info/en/should-i-use-du-or-sie/#comments Wed, 09 Nov 2011 09:13:31 +0000 http://isayhello.info/?p=2896 Should I use “Du” or “Sie”..? Germans sometimes make or do things slightly more complicated than people from other countries. This is probably no problem at all for the average backpacker who just wants to go out for a few beers with that nice Australian guy from the hostel, but especially for business people on an appointment in Germany this can cause problems. Suddenly questions like “Who introduces whom?”, “Who shakes whose hand?”, or all the little unwritten rules and culture in German organizations DO matter.

The iSayHello phrasebooks may help you out for a while – but although they can help you a lot with language, they just provide a little help when it comes to the right situation. Here “More than Manners“, the Business Professional’s guide to success in Germany comes into the game. “More than Manners” is a learning software, which is based on the successful book by Gretchen Schaupp & Joachim Graff (two classic German names by the way ;)) with the same title. This will hopefully solve the “Du” or “Sie” question, next time you’re in the land of the “masters of planning“.
